What is a Patient Participation Group? (PPG)
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a joint venture between a general practice and its patient population and is an important forum within which patients can ‘have a voice.’
Working in partnership with the practice, a PPG helps to make services more user-friendly and improve patient experience. By identifying issues that are important to patients and by responding to any new initiatives, it can improve and influence the way in which services are planned and delivered and increase patients’ confidence in the healthcare services.
We are linked with the Patient Group Network that is part of Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (Herts Valleys CCG) This offers us an overview of current developments and opportunities for patient participation with a wider NHS perspective. In addition, we have participated in shared initiatives with other patient groups in the locality and anticipate that this will continue with the development of Dacorum Primary Care Network
Manor Street Surgery PPG
We have both an ‘actual’ and a ‘virtual’ PPG. We have meetings at the surgery which representatives from the practice and our members attend. Contact with our ‘virtual’ members is predominantly by email and is for patients who would find it difficult to attend meetings but would still like to have a say in what we do.
How do you join?
Our aim is to increase our membership and ensure that this is inclusive and representative of the patient population as a whole.
If you would like to join our group please complete our PPG Registration Form. If you would like to know more about our role, we can also be contacted directly via our email address manorstreetsurgeryppg@gmail.com
